As our business becomes busier than ever we’re needing to take on a few extra members to staff to add to our team.  With immediate starts available, we’re looking for people to fill the following positions:

Seasonal Cook/Chef:
Someone who can help out on our busy pizza bench as well as with food preparation and service during Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner. Part Time Hours with a mixture of shifts over a variety of days. This post would ideally suit a catering student or someone with proven experience of working in kitchens. Good hourly rate available for someone with the right skill set. Please get in touch for more information and to apply.

Seasonal Fryer:
In order to keep our fish & chips flying out the door this summer, we’re looking for an additional fryer to join our experienced team – hours are part time and seasonal. You must be available to work a variety of shifts, evenings and over weekends and ideally have some experience within the hospitality industry although full training can be given. Even more importantly, you must have the confidence to work with the public, be motivated to work hard (as we get extremely busy!), have a good sense of humour(!) and be a team player. Please come and speak to us if you’re interested to find out more…

Kitchen Porter:
Do you have high standards when it comes to cleanliness? Do you prefer being on the move at work rather than sitting at a desk? Are you physically fit? Can you cope with a fast pace? Then you’re just what we’re looking for!! We have a current vacancy in our kitchen team for a kitchen porter – part time over weekdays/nights and weekends. The role involves feeding dishes through a commercial dishwashing machine as well as hand washing pots & pans and other items. You will also be expected to undertake other kitchen duties including cleaning and some food preparation with the potential for this aspect to lead on to more training if desired. Experience an advantage, but not essential (or as important as a strong work ethic!). You must be reliable, energetic and a good team player who can provide good references.

Ice Cream Alliance Rising Star Award
New Rising Star Award launched in memory of Northern Ireland ice cream giant, Guido Morelli.

A new award has been created that will recognise young talent in the UK’s ice cream industry. Morelli’s Ice Cream and the Ice Cream Alliance, the UK trade association for ice cream manufacturers and retailers, have created a Rising Star Award in memory of Guido Morelli who passed away in June 2016.

Guido was very much at the helm of the Northern Ireland ice cream industry and created hundreds of ice cream flavours for his family business, Morelli’s. The annual award will honour a young member of the ice cream community who has made an impact within the industry in a short period of time and shine a light on their achievements.

The inaugural Guido Morelli Rising Star Award was presented on Wednesday 15 February 2017 at the Ice Cream Alliance President’s Ball in Harrogate. The Morelli family commissioned a specially-made trophy from Ironside Trophies in Lisburn and selected the first recipient of the award. The deserving winner was 23 year-old Somers Giacopazzi who hails from Eyemouth in the Scottish Borders. He has worked in his family’s business, Giacopazzi’s, for five years and leads the company’s very successful retail offering and manages over 50 wholesale customers. He also has some wins at national ice cream competitions under his belt.

Guido’s daughter and Morelli’s Sales and Marketing Manager, Daniela Morelli-Kerr said “Dad was a much-loved figure in the ice cream community. He always sought to nurture young talent and we know how proud he would be to have a Rising Star Award created in his memory. Somers is a committed and passionate young man whose star shall no doubt continue to rise.”
