Giacopazzi’s has been established in Eyemouth since the early 1900s, after Lorenzo Giacopazzi arrived in this small fishing town in the Scottish Borders on his way to seek his fortune in America. Like many of his fellow travellers, Lorenzo decided to make his home in Scotland instead of continuing on his journey, setting up in business doing what he knew best – making ice cream.
For generations now, local people, visitors and holiday makers have enjoyed Giacopazzi’s ice cream and sorbet, which continue to be made fresh daily on the premises by fourth and fifth generation members of the family. Giacopazzi’s iconic parlour, situated on the harbour side in Eyemouth, maintains its position as the place to visit on any trip to the town.
Over recent years, there have been a number of important developments and growth within the business, including a significant expansion in the range of flavours made on site involving the development of production methods by combining traditional techniques with new and innovative products. Giacopazzi’s has also been successful in securing numerous awards and accolades for their ice cream and sorbet, including 4 Great Taste Awards and 4 Gold Medals in the Ice Cream Alliance (ICA) National Competitions. Giacopazzi’s also became Champion of Champions in the Flavour Class of the 2013 competitions – one of the highest accolades you can achieve in the industry. Furthermore, Giacopazzi’s successfully competed to have the opportunity to represent the United Kingdom in the European Championship of Gelato in Berlin, demonstrating an ongoing commitment to the development of their brand and to raising the profile of the UK industry as a whole.
